MA, BA Hons, IBMTdip
I qualified as a Somatic Bodywork and Movement Therapist and Educator in 2010, following a 4 year diploma with Linda Hartley at the Institute of Integrative Bodywork and Movement Therapy (IBMT). My studies with Linda started in 2003, and naturally followed on from my interest and dedication to improvised movement and meditation practices during the 1990s and early 00s.
Linda’s work has had a profound effect on how I experience my own body and has deeply supported me in my own life journey through emotional, physical and mental challenges and opportunities. It has also assisted me to support others in their challenges and individual lives.
I see change and potential as part of nature’s inevitable evolution
Between 2008-09 I worked as a movement artist with older people in care homes and hospitals through Arts for Health, Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. I started seeing clients for individual somatic work in 2009 with a particular interest in empowering others to befriend their bodies. Between 2012-16 I had a break from offering therapeutic sessions, only seeing clients occasionally as I focused on my foraging business and other areas of my life. My interest in and love of somatics, however, has never waned and in 2016 I find myself rebuilding my skills and becoming available to offer sessions again.
My commitment to on-going professional development, has included studying with renown body and movement teachers such as; Linda Hartley, Sandra Reeves, Yacov and Susannah Darling Khan, Helen Poynor, Andrea Olsen and Caryn McHose, Bonnie Bainbridge-Cohen, Suprapto, Biljana Lipic. For over a decade I worked with traditional meditation through; Friends of the Western Buddhish Order (FWBO), Goenka’s Vipassana and Gaia House. I have also learnt native awareness techniques through; Ivan McBeth, James Watson and Gabrielle Roth 5 Rhythms dance. In 2015 I also became a certified Professional Life Coach (Coach Training Centre).
A little more about me; I live in Penzance, Cornwall, I love the outdoors and nature (the environment, the body, creatures). Walking, swimming, a little cycling, comfy sofas, good food and good company all help to make up the pleasures and passions of my life.
